Xiaomi is all set to release the long-awaited successor to HyperOS 1.0, dubbed HyperOS 2.0. Introduced back in October 2023 as a replacement for MIUI, HyperOS is considered an equal artifact that signifies Xiaomi’s commitment to developing its software ecosystem. Given that the company is making some early preparations for the stable release of HyperOS 2.0, here’s what we know so far.
HyperOS Update Server and Version Changes
Recent changes to Xiaomi’s HyperOS update server give us a hint towards the release. The previous version of the server used an identifier called «Bigversion», where V816 referred to HyperOS 1.0. Now they have chosen to use a new array labeled «OS Big Version» alongside «Big Version». This addition shows the exact version of HyperOS and now points to 1.0 next to V816. In MIUI versions, bigversion was … 12, 13, 14.
This update introduces a sea of conditions for a change in the situation: Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 is moving from closed beta testing on the server to open servers and will soon reach the open beta testing process. In simple words, this means that Xiaomi will soon begin stable beta testing of HyperOS 2.0.
Potential release dates
Speculations about the release date of HyperOS 2.0 confirm that it could launch alongside Android 15 in August 2024. If that target is not met, the new version could be released in October 2024, along with the Xiaomi 15 series. Whatever the month, the anticipation for HyperOS 2.0 is already off the charts among Xiaomi users and on all tech forums.
Addressing previous criticisms
Three days ago, in our article about the HyperOS 1.5 update, we criticized Xiaomi for the version of HyperOS. According to critics, the version listed appeared as 1.0, not 1.5. After checking on the new server, we can find that the versions released as an update to HyperOS 1.5 show «OS Big Version» as 0.0. This discrepancy, when it shows as OS0.0, while other updates appear as 1.0, confirms the existence of HyperOS 1.5.

What to Expect from HyperOS 2.0
While specific features of HyperOS 2.0 are not yet revealed, users can expect several improvements and new features to come on top of the foundation laid by HyperOS 1.0.
